Come train with the LEIMAY Ensemble!
Led by Andrea Jones*, LEIMAY Ensemble Senior Member, this LEIMAY LUDUS Ensemble class is shaped by the regular practice of the LEIMAY Ensemble.
It offers body conditioning as well as guided physical explorations. The practice seeks to expand embodied and sensorial consciousness through enabling multiple realms of perception. It utilizes improvisation as a means of personal exploration. Each dancer’s potential is cultivated to develop a unique movement language rooted in the body's materiality and transformation as encountered through listening to the rhythms and textures of the non-human.
LEIMAY LUDUS seeks to stimulate imagination, enrich creativity, and expand notions of body, space, and time by challenging euro-centric dance and performance training frameworks.
LEIMAY LUDUS is based on principles developed by LEIMAY's Artistic Co-Director Ximena Garnica through nearly two decades of her study of Butoh, Noguchi Taiso, and Experimental theater.
*In the event that Andrea Jones is unavailable, Class will be led by LEIMAY Ensemble Members Masanori Asahara or Krystel Copper
